2013 has been an absolute blast, super hectic at times but all totally worth it! I started the year in Chamonix for Helen & Nobby’s stunning wedding and ended it at the same venue for Maddie & Justin’s gorgeous day just the other week! I also shot 2 weddings in Ibiza, one in Alderney, 2 in Yorkshire, 1 in Bath, 1 in Bristol, 3 in London, 1 in the Cotswolds, 1 in Kent, 1 in Cambridge, 4 in Surrey and the rest were local to me around Chichester. All in all I’ve seen some beautiful things, met some wonderful suppliers (Kate Avery Flowers, Mari Hudson Catering, Clare Williams Cakes, Lucy from ID Salon, Vikki from Eat Ibiza to name a few), shot at some stunning venues (Sudely Castle, Elizir (Ibiza), Le Cabane (Chamonix), Claridge’s Hotel, Bath Assemby Rooms, Rivervale Barn, Southend Barns) plus some insane private houses and marquees with amazing backdrops as well as meeting a whole bunch of wonderful brides and grooms. I shot a total of 35 weddings, which, going forward, I believe to be too many. I want to give 100% to every wedding I shoot and not let myself get burnt out so one of my big decisions for 2014 is to only take on an absolute max of 25 weddings. This means I need to stay true to my pricing in order for my business to survive but I honestly think all my clients will appreciate having a photographer who’s 100% inspired, full of energy and with plenty of time for Skype conversations and advice.
I’m thrilled to say I’ve been featured on Style Me Pretty, Rock My Wedding, B.Loved, Boho Weddings, French Wedding Style and in You & Your Wedding and Your Wedding magazine – yay! I love seeing my work featured and feel extremely grateful to all these fantastic blog and magazines who do such an incredible job supporting and promoting suppliers.
2013 also saw the very exciting launch of Millie & Belle with the fantastic Camilla Arnhold. Camilla and I absolutely love working together and are really excited about what the future holds for our new venture… Watch this space!
I also bought myself a Contax 645 medium format camera which has totally re-inspired me. I love film and want to shoot more and more with it. 2014 may even see the addition of a Film & Digital Package for HCP so please get in contact if this might interest you. I’m also hoping to continue to learn and develop my photography skills through lots of personal projects on film, whether it be a styled shoot, family shoot or engagement shoot, I’m just excited by the new medium and the added inspiration it gives me. Myself and the awesome hubby are also planning on starting a new business together to compliment two things we both love… Without giving it away we’re both really excited and look forward to trying to work together doing something we’re passionate about. We’ll let you know as soon as we can…
On a personal note myself and the hubby have bought a house, sweated over renovations, holidayed in Tignes, Meribel, Chamonix and Ibiza, spent 7 weeks in Mallorca for Dom’s work and generally enjoyed our 2nd year of married life!
